Fascinating! I've always loved to tell other Americans that the Bolshevics, despite their many shortcommings, beat the United States as did many other countries by years. Wyoming granted women the right to vote in 1869 and that included the right to inherit and own property, hold public office, and to obtain full guardianship of minor children.

Viner says one of the main reasons Wyoming territorial legislator William Bright introduced the bill was because he opposed giving black men the right to vote.
